About Pizza & Tennis
By the end of four weeks, you will hold a rally — and know exactly why you can.
This is the Wednesday evening slot at 20:00. Sign up for Wednesdays only, or add the Tuesday slot as well — many players do both for maximum progression. The repetition between sessions is where the technique settles.
This course is for those who have never played before, or who tried a little too long ago and want to start over. You will learn the groundstrokes, the serve and — more importantly — how the ball actually works. Small groups mean you get proper individual attention in every session.
Many sign up with a friend or two, but you are just as welcome to come alone — the groups are small and it is easy to get to know each other. You can borrow a racket from us for free.
The four weeks
|
Week One The Foundation Clean contact and control before pace. Most beginners try to hit hard too early — this week fixes that.
— Grip and contact point “I finally understand why the ball was flying everywhere.” |
Week Two Backhand & Movement The body starts organising itself around the ball instead of reacting late.
— Two-handed backhand Players begin to move before the ball arrives, not after. |
Week Three Serve & Real Points Most new players fear the serve. This week removes that fear and introduces real tennis structure.
— Serve toss and rhythm The first time points feel intentional, not random. |
Week Four Rally, Compete & Play The final week connects everything. You leave feeling like an actual tennis player.
— Rally consistency & direction Coach feedback, matchplay situations, and a clear path forward. |
How the sessions work
|
The principle You leave having already felt it work. Most players walk off court after a lesson with feedback they are supposed to think about. These sessions are structured so the correction happens during the hour — not after it. The goal is not to fix the outcome of the shot. It is to fix the movement that produces it. |
|
|
I — Drill stops immediately Immediate correction When something is wrong, the drill stops. The coach demonstrates the correct movement on the spot — not as a description, but physically on the court. |
II — Player runs it again Movement, not outcome The correction is applied straight away, while the feeling is fresh. A player who understands the movement can correct themselves without a coach present. |
What you leave with
